Our aim and objective with this project is to visually appeal to the general public. We hope this will achieve spreading a larger education on the understanding of the media business and its content. By using the website platform, it is more accessible than a report. In addition, we would like to have in-depth information that can be explored as an experience, more so than a pamphlet or infographic.

Our project will explore the various similarities and differences between two top news authorities: CNN and Fox. We have studied the business models, content, user opinions, possible biases, and marketing strategies in order to visualize the data. This allows us to gain a better understanding of the levels and effects of biases on our daily lives and interactions.

FROM THE SURVEY...

I think the news helps solidify my democratic values because of how harshly republican values are scrutinized within the news outlets I follow. Often times the articles I’ll see on twitter themselves are unbiased however the views expressed directly after are not which help me formulate an opinion.

By acknowledging it, I'm more skeptical of the information presented to me. Journalism, to me, should be devoid of as much personal or institutional opinion as possible. It should be fact driven and allow me to make up my own mind on the issues. I'm sickened that the populace gets so much news from biased news sources that reinforce their own beliefs, isolate the individual from exposure to other ideas and beliefs, and thus lend themselves to more easily be incited to extreme behavior. This applies to both the left and right.

CNN is literally beyond biased, covered with fake news. Never seen such a biased news outlet in my life, even before the 2016 election. Makes me want to vote Red even more

NEWS SURVEY

We conducted a survey within the New School student body, tackling the idea of biases and trust in various news media outlets. The questions address levels of trust between various news organizations, as well as a write-in portion discussing the effects of potential biases in the news. We have a recorded 118 responses from students on all grade levels, social, academic, financial, and cultural backgrounds. We believe that this survey is an accurate depiction of the New School's attitude and perception towards the news and the way they receive information.
